John Kowalski -  Director

John Kowalski is Vice President, Calgary District of Scotiabank, overseeing thirty branches.  His career with Scotiabank, spanning over thirty-five years, has also included assignments in Operations, Human Resources, Project Management, Commercial Credit, and Branch Management.  He holds several designations from the Institute of Canadian Bankers including that of a Fellow of the ICB, the most senior.

Mr. Kowalski has been actively involved in the Chamber of Commerce for over 20 years, having held the position of President of the Portage la Prairie Chamber as well as Director positions with both the Manitoba and Thunder Bay Chambers,  He is a past Director of the Thunder Bay Foundation and is currently a Director of the Red Deer College Foundation.

Michael Hejtmanek - Treasurer

Michael Hejtmanek holds the position of Controller at Superior Propane.  With a Diploma of Business Administration – Accounting Major, Michael’s career has focused on financial operations including budgetary development and reporting, as well as human resource processes in the energy, education, construction and IT sectors.  He has been an active community volunteer for various organizations and is a member of the Certified General Accountants’ Association of Alberta. 

Julia Anderson - Director

Julia Anderson was born and raised in Calgary.  She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Western Ontario and went on to article with Ernst & Young Charters Accountants receiving her CA designation in 1995.  Julia worked in public practice for ten years and is currently working in Sentence Administration at the Calgary Remand Centre.  She is married and has two children.
