WAYS TO DONATE...
Due to a lack of resources for processing and storage, the Shelter is no longer able to accept donations of used material items. See below for a list of new items needed by the Shelter and links to our partner organizations who have the capacity to accept used materials.
Financial Donations to the Shelter can be made in one of the following three ways:
1) Make a one-time or an ongoing monthly donation by calling (403) 539-5130 or www.canadahelps.org using your credit card.
2) By mailing a cheque / money order payable to Calgary Women's Emergency Shelter #201, 2616 18th Street NE Calgary AB T2E 7R1.
3) Purchasing needed items through our CWES Wish Book available online or in pdf form. Through the Wish Book you can purchase from a long shopping list for the Shelter from food to counselling sessions for children who have wittnessed abuse.
Donating New Items from the following wish list are always needed by the Shelter programs. These can be donated directly to the Shelter by calling (403) 539-5130. Please call before rounding-up larger donations of purchased goods to see what is needed most at that time. Goods can also be purchased for the Shelter via our CWES Wish Book (see above). Items required in order of current need are as follows:
- Gift cards so specific items for women and children can be purchased. Examples may include size '3' winter boots or food for a family for the first 24-48 hours in their new home. Cards from WalMart, Superstore and other businesses where both clothes and food can be purchased are preferable.
- New underwear, socks, slippers, and sleepwear for women and children.
- Unused toiletries (regular sizes as opposed to trial sizes)
- Feminine hygiene products.
- Baby items: formula, food, bottles, wipes.
- *We have a current need for children’s dress-up costumes for our child therapists to use when working with our children: a policeman’s uniform, a fireman’s uniform, princess dresses, etc.
Mobile Phone to Protect Program provides donated mobile phones to women who are assessed to be at a high risk for domestic assault. These phones connect women to 911 services in the event of a threat to personal safety. To donate phones, please call (403) 539-5130.
