Scotiabank Scores for the Calgary Women's Emergency Shelter

Published: Jul 30, 2009

On a beautiful, sunny day, Scotiabank and its customers golfed their way to a $60,000 donation to the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter. Honourary Chair, Sheldon Kennedy, was at the event to mark this significant contribution that, after 14 years, amounts to more than $600,000 in donations to the Shelter.

The Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter is grateful for the partnership with Scotiabank that provides such meaningful support, just as the demand for services continues to grow. Counselling and support programs that serve thousands of women, children, youth and men are working towards a community without family violence. Scotiabank and its customers are standing together with us to help make that a reality.

In addition to the cash donation, individual bank branches held their own fund-raising programs over the summer, adding to the impact of the Scotiabank 14th Annual Charity Golf Classic. Once again, the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter is overwhelmed by the support of Calgarians who continue to stand together with us on this journey that was begun 35 years ago.
