Join us and take a stand against family violence
Published: Nov 03, 2009
When people in our community decide to speak up against family violence, it's a powerful thing. You can join them. You can join us. Together, we can work towards ending family violence.
Family violence is the most prevalent issue facing our community today. Alberta continues to have one of the highest rates of family violence in Canada, with 1 in 3 women experiencing abuse in her lifetime. Three to five children in every Canadian classroom have seen their mother being abused. This month, the police will spend more time responding to domestic abuse than any other issue, including gangs. And this year, the social costs will continue to escalate as the impact of family violence is felt throughout businesses, neighborhoods and homes across our city.
