Donate Goods
Financial contributions to the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter are the best way to help as they provide the most flexible and efficient way of helping people. A cash donation allows us to purchase items in bulk and to purchase exactly what we need, when we need it most.
Another way to help give items that are needed at the Emergency Shelter is to purchase them from our Wish Book, available online. You can buy items such as pajamas, food, baby care items or counselling sessions for children who have witnessed abuse. If you would like to receive a copy of our Wish Book in the mail, please call our donations line at 403 539-5130.
If you want to go out shopping, items from the list below are needed. All goods being donated must be new, never used, items. Please make sure to provide your purchase receipt and you may be eligible for a tax receipt.
Effective February 2010:
- Gift cards so we can buy specific items as they are needed for women and children. Cards from WalMart, Superstore and other businesses where both clothes and food can be purchased are preferable
- Boys winter outerwear (snowsuits) in sizes from 9 mos. to Size 2 as well as size 7
- Girls winter outerwear (coats) sizes 6X and 16
- Women's winter coats sizes large and x-large
- Girls sweatpants size 8 and
- Women's t-shirts and women's sweatshirts in sizes small, medium, large and x-large
- New underwear, socks, slippers, and sleepwear for women (size small) and children (boys sizes 2 and 3).
- Unused toiletries (regular sizes as opposed to trial sizes)
- Feminine hygiene products.
- Baby items: formula, food, bottles, wipes. Larger size diapers (size 5-6) are always in need..
Arrange for drop-off by calling the Calgary Women's Emergency Shelter donations line at (403) 539-5130. Please call before rounding-up larger donations of purchased goods to see what is needed most at that time.
