OWLS Counselling Program
The OWLS program serves women, 50 years and older, who are currently experiencing family violence and abuse, or have left a relationship and are in crisis. Using a group process approach, clients are encouraged to tell their story, finding within those stories evidence of how they have resisted violence and abuse. Through a safe environment, women are encouraged to recognize their inherent strengths and resilience.
The OWLS program consists of two closed groups with approximately 8 to 10 women in each. The program is held weekly for 2 hours and consists of 36 weeks of group counselling spread over a one-year period. OWLS is the longest running group of its kind in North America.
A woman can be living with her abuser to access these programs or she may be living on her own.
