The Family Violence Helpline is often the first contact for people reaching out for support. Sometimes a call to the Helpline is enough to give someone the support they need.
Family Violence Helpline counsellors answer the phone 24 hours per day, 365 days a year. They provide counselling and information in dozens of languages.
Last year, the Helpline supported over 7000 women and men. This included thousands of requests to stay at the Shelter and gain access to other programs.
A Family Violence Helpline counsellor provides FREE of charge:
- Help and support.
- Emotional counselling without judging.
- Safety planning.
- Information and referrals.
- Intake for the Shelter.
- Intake for other programs.
- Support to leave an abusive relationship.
- Support to get safer while in an abusive relationship.
- Parenting support.
- Help for men who want to stop being abusive.
Our services are confidential except when a life is in danger or a child is exposed to abuse.
