Stopping family violence is a priority, so CWES continues to develop its program to encourage men to come forward and change their violent/controlling behaviours.
Men who want to stop abusive and violent behaviours that are impacting the people they love and stopping them from realizing their dreams can call our Men's Counselling Service for free, respectful, non-judgmental individual and group counselling.
When a man enters the individual or group counselling, his female partner and children also become part of our outreach programs. The partners receive support and education through the Men’s Counselling Services’ Partner Support Program, helping them plan for a safe future for themselves and their children.
Each year hundreds of men and women take part in the Men’s Counselling Service with individual and group counselling sessions. In a recent study about the program, more than 75 percent of the women involved reported a dramatic change in their partner’s abusive behaviour after attending counselling with the Men’s Counselling Service.
You can learn more through Choosing to Change: a handbook for men concerned about their abusive behaviours towards those they love.
See the section Am I Abusive? For more information.
