Support for Children and Youth at the Shelter

At the Shelter, counsellors are available to help build safety for children through play therapy and support mothers to see their strengths as a parent and set goals for the future.
Mothers can drop off their children at the play area if they need time for themselves to rest, get counselling or find housing. Mothers are always welcome in the play area that is filled with fun, bonding activities.
The counsellors in the residential Shelter program helped hundreds of children in 2008.
The Shelter is only one of our programs. If a woman can’t or chooses not to come to the Shelter, there are other programs available to help her and her children.
At the Shelter Children’s Counsellors provide:
- Play therapy to build safety.
- Support with parenting goals.
- Children’s safety planning.
