Community Services Counselling Program
This program focuses on serving women who want short-term, crisis-oriented support as well as longer-term counselling, while living in the community and who are unable or choose not to enter the Emergency Shelter. Our Community Services Counsellors provide counselling in a safe place in the community that supports safety planning, case planning, parenting support, and navigation of community resources which are available to meet the needs of the women and their children. Within this program, a Community Services Aboriginal Counsellor is available to support women who identify as Aboriginal, as well as a Community Services Older Adult Counsellor to support women 50 years and older. Over ninety percent of the Calgary Women's Emergency Shelter clients are served through the Community Services Counselling Program.
